BC-FBN--Steelers-Roethlisberger, FBN

BC-FBN--Steelers-Roethlisberger,265Roethlisberger says he'll be on the field Sunday

PITTSBURGH (AP) ? Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger doesn't want his sprained left ankle to keep him out of Pittsburgh's regular-season finale Sunday against the Cleveland Browns.

"As long as I can deal with pain, I'll be out there," Roethlisberger said Thursday. "I don't want to let the guys down, so I'll do what I can to be out there."

Roethlisberger, who sat out the Steelers' win last Sunday against the St. Louis Rams, fully participated in practice again Thursday. He said the ankle, sprained on Dec. 8 in Pittsburgh's last meeting with the Browns, was "a little sore." Offensive coordinator Bruce Arians said he was "much more" confident in Roethlisberger's ability to play Sunday after watching his mobility improve in Thursday's practice.

Roethlisberger will play if he's healthy, Arians said.

"I want him out there but not at the risk of injuring himself," Arians said. "If he can't move around and get out of the way, there's no sense in getting him out there."

There's plenty at stake against the Browns as the Steelers (11-4) remain in the hunt for the AFC North championship. To win it, they need a win vs. Cleveland and hope the Cincinnati Bengals beat the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday.

If Roethlisberger can't play, 37-year-old Charlie Batch, who threw for 208 yards in the Steelers' win over the Rams, is available.

Guard Doug Legursky (shoulder) and safety Troy Polamalu (knee) sat out for the second straight practice Thursday. Linebacker James Harrison, who sat out Wednesday's practice with a neck injury, and receiver Mike Wallace (ankle), who was limited in practice Wednesday, participated fully Thursday.

Android Remains Top Mobile Platform in the U.S. (NewsFactor)

Web metrics firm comScore reports that 234 million Americans above the age of 13 were using mobile devices during the three months prior to Thanksgiving. The Web metrics firm's new survey of more than 30,000 U.S. mobile subscribers also demonstrates that Google's Android remained ahead in the mobile OS platform race with a 46.9 percent market share.

In the U.S. mobile handset market overall, Samsung was the top device maker with a 25.6 percent share. Second-place LG achieved a 20.5 percent share, and Motorola Mobility came in third with a 13.7 percent share.

Apple's share of the market overall rose from 9.8 percent in August to 11.2 percent in November, driven by pent-up demand for the iconic device maker's new iPhone 4S. By contrast, Research In Motion's BlackBerry sales slipped from 7.1 percent in August to 6.5 percent in November.

During the three months through Nov. 24, 72.6 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers used text messaging on their mobile devices -- a rise of 2.1 percentage points from last August, comScore reports. And 44.9 percent of all U.S. mobile subscribers downloaded applications during the latest survey period -- up 3.3 percentage points.

Smartphone Ownership Climbs

According to comScore, 91.4 million people in the U.S. owned smartphones at the end of the firm's latest three-month survey period. Smartphone ownership rose by a robust 8 percent between August and November.

Android's share of the smartphone market segment rose 3.1 percentage points between August and November. Though Apple's iOS remained in second place with a 28.7 percent share, the platform's 1.4 percentage point rise did not keep pace with Android's steeper growth trajectory.

RIM ranked third in comScore's latest survey with a 16.6 percent share -- down 3.1 percentage points from August. Microsoft's Windows Phone platform also lost one-half of a percentage point during the same period.

Though Microsoft's new Mango release hit the U.S. market during the survey period, the Windows Phone platform trailed behind the market leaders with a 5.2 percent share. Additionally, Nokia's Symbian platforms still held on to a 1.5 percent smartphone market share.

Mobile Browsing Growth

The number of handset users accessing social-networking sites or blogs on their devices grew 2.1 percentage points to 33 percent of all U.S. mobile subscribers, comScore said. Moreover, 29.7 percent reported mobile gaming activities, while 21.7 percent said they listened to music on their handsets.

On the browser front, comScore said 44.4 percent of U.S. mobile subscribers were surfing the Internet on their handsets -- up 2.3 percentage points since August. According to Net Applications, Apple's Safari mobile browser for smartphones and tablets led the field with a 55 percent share at the end of November, while Android's browser ranked third (16.4 percent) behind the Opera Mini mobile browser (20.1 percent).

More than 80 percent of U.S. mobile users 18 to 22 years of age access the Internet outside the home, with 67 percent using the mobile Internet at least monthly, Forrester Research reported last month. Still, U.S. adults 23 to 31 years of age have the highest uptake of smartphones and are most likely to use the mobile Internet on their mobile device.

"They use their mobiles for a wide range of activities, from playing games and listening to music to looking up directions," wrote Forrester Research analyst Gina Sverdlov in a blog post. "Two in three online 'Gen Yers' fall into our SuperConnecteds Mobile Technographics segment."

By contrast, only 33 percent of U.S. residents between the ages of 46 and 55 own a smartphone. Additionally, only 20 percent of Americans 56 to 66 years of age use the mobile Internet regularly, Sverdlov noted.

Exclusive: Man eats goat heads on 'Cheapskates'

TLC

Jeff Yeager cooks goat heads for one of his frugal meals on "Extreme Cheapskates."

By Anna Chan

When times get tough, it's not unusual for people to start cutting back a bit.

But for one penny-pinching man featured on TLC's upcoming?special "Extreme Cheapskates," reducing his spending a bit isn't good enough. No, Jeff Yeager does much more than that. He goes on an all-out weekly fiscal fast several times a year and doesn't spend a cent of his own?hard-earned money.

Instead, during his fasts, Jeff spends only the loose change that he finds around town. And when he does use that money, it's to buy the cheapest things he needs -- including food. This leads to some ... umm ... uncommon dishes at the dinner table.

"I create my menus around what is least expensive," Jeff explained in an exclusive clip TLC shared with us. "Not only does that save you a lot of money, but you tend to eat healthier. Like organ meats!"

Mmmm! OK, maybe not. Even Jeff's wife, Denise, admits that she's not always a fan of his meals. "Some of the food he eats, I just can't get myself to ... to fathom eating," she said in the clip.

Like the goat heads Jeff bargained with his local butcher for. Check it out (but beware if you have a weak stomach; this stuff doesn't exactly look appetizing):

Exclusive clip: For one "Cheapskate," buying meat at the grocery store is too spendy when he can go to his butcher for the unwanted bits.

The one-hour special "Extreme Cheapskates" airs Dec. 28 at 9 p.m. on TLC.

How far would you go to save money? Dish on our Facebook page!

Great thread.

Phil Lane with 3 goals in 3 games. Great start. We need players with his size and if he can bring a legitimate scoring touch then even better.

Gormley played his first game tonight and played real well. Had a goal and an assist along with numerous solid defensive plays. He played with an edge I haven't seen him play with often but that lead to a few penalties. It's still great to see him hungry like that though.

Tonmorrow afternoon he'll play vs. Domingue.

Domingue over Gormley - at least on the scoreboard.

Judging by the boxscore, Gormley might well have hadt he better game.

Team Captain Jordan Schwarz is really having a good start for Saginaw.

6 gp 3g 4a and a ridiculous team leading +6

http://www.ontariohockeyleague.com/a...ern-conference

Saturday's win against the Greyhounds started with a pair of early goals by Saginaw's top line of Ivan Telegin along with captain Jordan Szwarz and Michael Sgarbossa.

?It was good to get a good start,? Szwarz said. ?It?s always good to get a goal in the first shift to get your team going.

Playing again tonite.

Gormley was held scoreless in a 6-2 loss but somehow ended up with a +2 on the night.

Domingue was credited with the win tonight and he played a total of... 0 min.

He replaced the starting goaltender for the shootout and Quebec won so he got the win.

Moncton's starting tender had a tough night -5 shots 5 goals before he got the hook.

I wonder if that's a misprint?

It is.

Saint John had a total of 33 shots but when you look at the goalies stats there are only 11 shots.

Gormley played great again last night. Had a goal and he also had the winning goal in the shootout on a nice move to roof it.

Maloney told me the guy has Yandle upside. That's how highly they think of him. These where Yandle's stats in his draft year. Keep in mind he got drafted the year after his eligibility.

2005-2006 Moncton Wildcats-QMJHL 66 25 59 84 50 109 15 0 3

Those are some big numbers, a ppg and I would be very happy.

3G 7A +3 for Gorms through 5 games.

Really making it look easy out there!

Also seems to be playing with an edge, something we haven't really seen of him before.

I was just gonna ask if anyone knows what happened to him. He hasn't been playing and one of the team writeups refers to the back up "filling in" for Visentin.

Anybody know if he's hurt or what the deal is?

I read something about a groin pull. He could be ok for the weekend but the second goaltender is doing good so they can be patient with Visentin.

I'm expecting big things from Brown this year. Bummed I don't have all the Fox Sports channels, this season. This kid is going to be such a bull.

So the Wranglers just announced their roster without Scott Darling on it. Wonder what his next move will be.

I see Blair Riley is on the roster in the drop down menu on the LV site.

Kinda strange how the PR mentions Fallon, Long and Ross were reassigned but Ross and Long are not in the roster presented in the PR.

Phil Lane is hurt as well - the Ontario boys are having a rough start to the year with the exception of Szwarz.

Is there something wrong with Brown?

He's only got 1 assist and 0 goals through 5 games.

I was hopeful that this was going to be a breakout year for him.
